Pimping Party – June 2, 2018

Every year – usually on a summer day with rain scheduled – the YakPak holds what we call a “Pimping Party”.  Oxford English Dictionary – Pimp – Make (something) more showy or impressive.

We meet up at a member’s home and everyone brings their boats that need a little work and we do it all together – sharing tools, hardware and expertise.  Here’s what we accomplished this year:

Applying KeelEazy
Installed KeelEazy (keel protection strips) on 3 kayaks

Installing a new seat
Installed a new seat in 1 kayak (and the fittings to hold it)

Added pad eyes
Added pad eyes for bow deck rigging on 1 kayak

Scotchguarding on our nylon skirts
Sprayed Scotchguard on our nylon skirts to restore the waterproofing

Cleaned up good as new
Cleaned up 2 kayaks so they are looking almost as good as new
Dobby
Dobby supervised us every step of the way!

We also applied 303 Marine Aerospace Protectant to all our rubber hatches and poly boats to avoid UV damage.

All in all, a very productive day and work is always more fun when shared.
